British watch manufacturer Sekonda first established their brand in 1966 under the Soviet Union production houses of the First Moscow Watch Factory, in Moscow and Petrodvorets Watch Factory, in Leningrad.  Sekonda watches were originally built to use mechanical movement, however, after separating from their Russian ties and moving their manufacture to Hong Kong, the brand adopted the quartz battery movement into their range of watches.
