What Is Afterpay Day?
Afterpay Day is a sale event that is hosted by the Australian payment provider Afterpay. Occurring on one day or over a few days (generally two to three days) Afterpay Day promises huge discounts and other lucrative offers at some of Australia's biggest retailers. And while it is generally an event that is exclusive to the brands that offer Afterpay as a payment option online as well as in their stores, which is pretty much most of Australia's retail market-including Grahams. However, even the small businesses that don't offer Afterpay as a means of payment will try and get in on the action. Some offer various discounts storewide while others offer additional discounts on top of already reduced items, then some brands offer free shipping or even a gift with purchase. So, Afterpay Day is a shopaholic's fever dream.
When Is Afterpay Day 2024?
Unlike other sale events such as Boxing Day, Black Friday, Singles Day and Cyber Monday, Afterpay Day happens more than once a year and never usually on the same day. The first Afterpay Day for 2024 is scheduled to begin on Thursday, March 14th. So, if you've been meaning to give your old timepiece an upgrade or are looking to treat yourself to some decadent diamond jewellery for a birthday you have coming up, a fancy event you are attending, that big promotion you are celebrating, the partner you are looking spoil, or simply for some self-love mark your calendars with this date so you don't miss all the epic deals.
How Does Afterpay Day Work?
As each Afterpay Day rolls around, retailers will submit their sale offers through the Afterpay mobile app or website where shoppers can then browse and find the deals that all of their favourite brands are offering, including Grahams. While it is encouraged, you do not have to make purchases with Afterpay to redeem any sale offers. Shoppers can not only snap up any bargains online but also in stores.
So, what exactly is Afterpay and how does it work?
Founded in 2014, Afterpay is a financial technology platform that has helped make the checkout process much quicker by enabling people to purchase goods in-store or online in four equal instalments. Unlike traditional credit cards that often carry a lot of hefty joining fees and accumulate interest over time often making it easier to fall into a mountain of debt, Afterpay is completely interest-free. To make purchases using Afterpay, all the customer has to do is select the Afterpay option in the payment options at the online checkout, or scan their digital Afterpay card on the EFTPOS machine when purchasing in-store.
Payments are super easy to manage through your account on the Afterpay website or in the app and are taken out fortnightly over six weeks. All you need is a valid debit card and to be over eighteen. Best of all, they enforce personal spending limits that are generated based on your buying behaviour, this helps you avoid getting into any sticky financial situations. Founded by Australian entrepreneurs Nick Molnar and Anthony Eisen, Afterpay now has a presence in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada with over 3.6 million shoppers using Afterpay and Australia and New Zealand alone.
How Long Do Afterpay Day Sales Last?
While it is called Afterpay Day it should be called Afterpay Week as the event runs until Sunday, March 17th. This means you will have four whole days to reap some amazing deals at Grahams and beyond. It used to only run for two days until it was established that the people just couldn't get enough and two whole days just wouldn't suffice. Occasionally brands will even run their offers a little bit longer than that to ensure everyone has the chance to score their discounts in time. But if you do happen to miss out on the Afterpay Day sale, don't sweat it as there is another Afterpay Day sale set to take place later in the year.
