The first place you should always start when trying to determine if your G-Shock watch is original is with an Authorised Dealer. 1. The 3-button LCD Display Test
The fastest way to determine if your G-Shock watch is original is by performing the 3-button LCD test. In timekeeping mode, press buttons A, C, and D simultaneously, which activates all segments of the LCD display. Press D to cycle through the different screens. Depending on the G-Shock series you have, the screen will display the Casio module number that either directly matches the 4-digit code on the back of the watch, or very closely matches the 4-digit code on the back of the watch. 2. The Packaging
Any original G-Shock watch will come with the correct packaging that includes two layers of cover. Replica G-Shock watches might appear genuine and encased in a type of branded boxing, but stay vigilant, an original G-Shock watch should come complete with two layers of packaging; a cardboard surround or sleeve that encases another cardboard box or aluminum case housing the watch. 3. The Tag | Manual | Warranty Card
An original G-Sock watch will come complete with a detailed instruction manual that has complex details about the features and functions of the watch. The manual will be available to preview in different languages and will not be majority written in Chinese. Try to identify the code on the watch tag. The watch code or module number will appear on the case back of the watch, the watch tag, and the watch manual.
Attempt to enter the code on the Casio Website under Casio G-Shock Instruction Manual Directory by Model Name. Any G-Shock watch model that is original will be listed in the instruction manual directory.

4. The Case Back Text
The case back of a G-Shock watch is a great way to distinguish an original from a replica model. The engraving on the back of an original G-Shock watch is much more defined than that of a replica G-Shock watch, whilst still maintaining a smooth and subtle texture of font and etch. Take note of the font size and quality of the font that's being used, as well as the proportion of text that's being displayed. Be sure to check for spelling errors and typos in the text, as this is a clear indicator that your G-Shock watch might not be original.
